A Win for Courtney’s Mobility Goals!

After an extended wait for increased funding from the NDIS, Courtney – a resident within Songbird’s Supported Independent Living – is moving ahead in leaps and bounds.

With a much needed increase to her therapy budget, Courtney is benefiting from valuable physiotherapy with Sian Lucas, of Ability Options.

Additionally, Courtney is undertaking a Hydrotherapy Program, also established by her Physiotherapist. Songbird Support staff have been trained to implement the program with Courtney once per week at the local pool. Further, Courtney was able to receive some fancy new orthotics by Hunter Orthotics, to support correct joint alignment in the knees, feet and ankles, and to assist with muscle weakness.

Finally, on the journey to mobilising independently, Courtney was also able to test out a range of mobility walkers, and chose a shiny new pink model as her first!

Songbird Team Leader, Tahneil Gearing, states “Songbird works closely with external providers to ensure we support our residents to achieve their goals. Courtney is now able to zoom around her home with her walker, with very little assistance from support staff – it’s fantastic!”

Congratulations on your progress Courtney, we know you have worked very hard!
