What It’s Like To Work With Songbird

What Our Staff Have To Say

I supervise the team to safely deliver the scheduled work in full and on time to best practice. I love my job because I can make a change in individual lives by creating opportunities to help them experience fun and fulfillment.

We face different challenges every day – life as a team leader is never boring.

One participant’s recent achievement that we are all really proud of is decreasing certain behaviours during morning routines by dying her hair and applying makeup. This has given her so much empowerment. She leaves the house every morning feeling like a star!

Brooke, Team Leader of Supported Independent Living

Although challenges do arise in the job, mainly around managing behaviours when they do occur, the drums alive program is one of great reward as it brings our participants a great amount of joy through music and movement.

For staff, the program is very fun and very rewarding.

Small improvements, for example, like a participant getting a certain drum move when they couldn’t get it before is really rewarding as you can witness the massive benefits the guys get from Drums Alive in real time!

Anna, Drums Alive Coach

I enjoy working for Songbird because it is an organisation with a wonderful culture that provides people with a disability a real sense of choice and inclusion.

There are empathetic trained support workers who listen, encourage and enable.

Songbird aims to empower and build skills through their drums alive and cooking programs but I believe most importantly, our residents know fun is always around the corner.

Danae, Second in Charge Disability Support Worker
