At some point, everyone needs to take a moment to recharge. Here at Songbird, we’re excited to be able to offer Short Term Accommodation for participants. Short Term Accommodation is provided under the NDIS for participants in the scheme, covering the cost of care and accommodation for up to 14 days at a time. It is often funded when your usual carers aren’t available, or simply for when it’s time to try new things.
What is Short Term Accommodation?
Short Term Accommodation is an option for NDIS participants to get away comfortably, with all the supports and tools put in place for you to be able to rest easily. At Songbird, we see Short Term Accommodation as a home away from home, offering participants a place to access important downtime while still feeling supported and safe.

Our Short Term Accommodation runs year-round and is approved to provide care to those under 18 years of age as a dedication of Songbird to provide equal opportunities of care and support to all.
Some key features of our NDIS approved Short Term Accommodation include:
- 3 spacious bedrooms – 2 bedrooms with built-in ceiling hoist
- Fully modified bathroom with drop down seat
- Fully wheelchair accessible
- Included transport to and from the accommodation
- Two large, lounge areas for accessibility and comfort
- Access to a wheelchair-accessible vehicle onsite throughout your stay
- Included activities and sightseeing opportunities
- Tranquil bushland setting
At our Short Term Accommodation facilities, all staff on-hand are trained in a comprehensive range of skill sets including person-centered support, behaviour support, bowel care, peg feeding, epilepsy, and manual handling. With our experienced staff on hand, as well as various equipment and aids, you can rest easy and enjoy your stay knowing we are there to support you every step of the way.

Currently, we are proud to offer our farm-style Short Term Accommodation set in the tranquil Wadalba, on the Central Coast. A true nature retreat, unwind and relax amongst the bushland just a short drive from both Newcastle and Sydney. Complete with 3 accessible bedrooms, fully-accessible housing, access to nearby shops and activities, as well as baby goats to immerse yourself in the farm-stay lifestyle, our Short Term Accommodation is a true, home away from home.
